Bible Prophecy and the Corona-virus So does the corona-virus (COVID-19) have anything to do with the “beginning of sorrows” Jesus spoke of as in the last days? Jesus said there will be a number of events that must take place prior to His coming (context of disciples question, v.2). Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. Mat 24:5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. Mat 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, BUT THE END IS NOT YET. Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. Mat 24:8 All these are the BEGINNING OF SORROWS. Jesus goes on to describe persecution “for My name's sake” (v.9) Let me encourage all of us to get into the Word of God. To answer the original question. Yes, this CAN be the beginning of sorrows Jesus spoke of. The point is that Jesus does not want us to be deceived. He wants us to understand what will happen. • “Take heed that no one deceives you” (v.4) • “See that you are not troubled” (v.6) • “but the end is not yet” (v.6) • “false prophets…deceive many” (v.11) If indeed this is the beginning of sorrows, it means Jesus is soon coming.
