2020-05-04 The Romans Road to Salvation Introduction
As believers it is important that we can clearly show how a person comes to faith.
After all if we are a believer in Jesus as our Savior we had to understand theses as well.
This week I would like to focus on evangelism principles from the Word.
Today we will go through what is called the “Romans Road to Salvation”.
This is exactly the Gospel presentation that showed me my need for Christ.
This is a way of explaining the Gospel of salvation using verses from the Book of Romans.

It is important to speak to man's heart and not his intellect, but that does not mean the intellect is not involved.
No one comes to faith in Jesus because of their intellect.
If they did, it would seem only the “smart” people would believe and be saved.
I can personally attest that even the simple minded come to faith in Christ! Again, I am proof of that!
So the Romans Road is straight forward and speaks to man's heart, not his intellect.

So the Romans Road is logical and sequential.
That is, it makes sense, and there is an important order to that logic that must be followed.
To make it as simple as I can the Romans Road verses are the following in this order:
(1) Romans 3:23; (2) Romans 6:23; (3) Romans 5:8; (4) Romans 10:9.
Of course there are other verses, in Romans and other Biblical passages that help support these verses.

So allow me to show these verses in total:
Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”
Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”
Romans 10:9, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”

Notice that the first three verses involves understanding a truth.
The fourth verse involves the action of believing.
Believing happens in the heart so there is no physical outward sign one has believed.
Only time will tell.

I recommend you put the Romans Road in your Bible. Go to Romans 3:23 and write next to it Romans 6:23.
There at Romans 6:23 write Romans 5:8. Go to Romans 5:8 and write the Romans 10:9.
By doing this all you have to remember is Romans 3:23 to get you started.

At our church web site I will place a large number of evangelism charts to help us feel more comfortable sharing our faith.
These will be found in the “Resources” section under “Biblical Topics”

In our next study, we will go through the Romans Road and explain the meaning and logic of each.
We all need to be able to share the truth of God's salvation message to those around us.
