2020-05-20 Promises of God are Yea and Amen
2Co 1:18 But as God is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No.
2Co 1:19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes.
2Co 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

IAll the promises of God are “yes” and “amen”.
It is important to see that they are yes and amen “in Him”.
God keeps His promises because He is able to perform (Rm.4:21), and because it is impossible for Him to lie (He.6:18).
God always fulfills His promises to His believing people, either immediately or ultimately.
We can’t “claim” every promise in the Bible – only the ones that apply to us. Context is king.
One day we go through some of the popular verses that are misapplied.

Allow me to share some “yes” and “amen” promises:

• WHEN I WORRY ABOUT LOSING MY SALVATION
Joh 10:28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
Joh 10:29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.

• WHEN I AM SAD AND DISCOURAGED
Joh 15:11 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

• WHEN I FACE SOMETHING DIFFICULT (TOO HARD FOR ME)
2Co 12:9 And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2Co 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

• WHEN I AM IN NEED OF STRENGTH
Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

• WHEN I AM AFRAID OF WHAT OTHERS MIGHT DO TO ME
Heb 13:6 So we may boldly say: "THE LORD IS MY HELPER; I WILL NOT FEAR. WHAT CAN MAN DO TO ME?"

• WHEN I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO OR HOW TO DO IT
Jas 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
Jas 1:7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord

• WHEN I FEEL THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT ME
1Pe 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

• WHEN I NEED FORGIVENESS AND CLEANSING
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

• WHEN I WONDER IF MY PRAYERS WILL BE HEARD AND ANSWERED
1Jn 5:14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
1Jn 5:15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

There is an element we must add to the mix. And that is faith.
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Faith is not simply believing God can, but knowing that He will.
Promises will glorify God as He works out their fulfillment.
