2021-03-29 Secret Sins In Our Lives - Solutions
It is important to break free from secret sins in our lives so you can experience peace in your relationship with God and others.
There are 5 ways in which we may see freedom from secret sins.

1. You must own it.
We need to stop minimizing sin or trying to justify it.
Oftentimes we make excuses for it by making it seem like no big deal. It is a big deal to God!
The more we make excuses about it, the longer it is going to take for us to experience freedom.
As believers we cannot be content with sin in our lives, just because it 'appears' to not be destroying our lives.
If you truly own your sin you will start to take an assessment of all the damage that this sin is doing to your life.
When you begin to see what it is taking away from you, you will be more motivated to let that sin go.

2. Confess your sin to the Lord.
Depending on your situation, you may need to do this daily.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Many of us already know we need to confess our sins.
This is not so much about knowing that you should, it is more about understanding WHY you should.
One of the benefits of confessing our sin on a regular basis is that we begin to hear ourselves agree with God that what we are doing is wrong.
After some time, our spirit becomes filled with the necessity of no longer doing this sin.
During the OT sacrifices when they saw the throat of the innocent animal get cut to death, it would prick their heart so that it would change the way they lived.
What happens when we consistently confess our sins? We learn not to want to take advantage of God's grace.
When we do not confess, we assume that God is going to forgive us anyway, and we do not grow from the experience.

3. Confess your sin to a friend.
Pro 18:1 A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.
When we do not want to be held accountable to anyone, we will seek our own fleshly desires.
Jas 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
There is freedom in confession.
When you finally come out, by confessing it to someone, you will experience that they know you, and yet fully love you.

4. Believe that God can set you free from this sin.
Eph 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
One of the reasons many of us are not experiencing freedom from secret sin, is because we do not believe God can or will set us free.
If we do not believe God can set us free, then Satan has us where he wants us— defeated.

5. Fear God.
Pro 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, To turn one away from the snares of death.
Do I fear the Lord God is going to choose to discipline me if I continue to willfully walk in habitual secret sin?
Every day we need to ask ourselves this question.
Do I truly have a reverence, respect, and a love for Him that overwhelms my temporary pleasure that I get from the secret sin?

If you follow the above Biblical solutions, you will find freedom and a closer fellowship with God and other believers.
