2021-05-20 Significance of the Name Faithful and True (Re.19:11)
Rev 19:11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

The name “Faithful and True” expresses the complete trustworthiness and reliability of Jesus Christ in everything He says and does.
This title reveals His character while making known His words and works.
In Revelation 19 John sees a vision of heaven opened and Jesus as the exalted King of kings finally coming down to the earth.
This picture of Christ's final return to the earth at the end of Daniel's 70th Week shows Him no longer as peaceful and humble riding on a donkey.
He comes now as victorious King, conquering like a roaring lion (v.14).

Jesus is portrayed and identified by four different titles:
1. “Faithful and True” (v.11).
2. “A name written that no one knew except Himself” (v.12).
3. “The Word of God” (v.13).
4. “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (v.16).

The word for “Faithful” means “characterized by steadfast affection or allegiance.”
The word for “True” means “characterized by expressing the truth.”
The nature and whole being of Christ exhibits faithfulness and truth.
When Christ came as a man, He proved Himself to be faithful to the mission and will of God His Father (Jn.17:4).
Joh 17:4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.
Never once did Jesus give in to the temptation of sin (He.4:15-16).

Isaiah foretold a “Branch” will come out of Jesse who would be faithful (Is.11:1-5; 42:3).
As a young man (Lk.2:49) and throughout His ministry, Jesus was a faithful and obedient servant to His Father God (Jn.4:34; 6:38).
Jesus, the One who is the same “yesterday and today and forever” is consistent in all He does (He.13:8).

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” and is the very embodiment of truth (Jn.14:6).
He came from His Father “full of grace and truth” (Jn.1:14). His promise of eternal life is true (Jn.5:24).
Joh 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Because of the fidelity inherent in His character, Jesus is faithful toward His followers in every circumstance (2Tm.2:13).
2Ti 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
Jesus will wage war and will triumph over the enemies of God!
Faithful and True is a fitting title for Jesus Christ our King.
He calls His followers to emulate His faithfulness and truth in their lives (Re.14:12; He.10:23).
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
